Music at St Michael’s

St Michael’s has a small SATB choir and the organ is one of the finest in Lewes. The church has an Offenbach 6ft grand piano and it’s a popular concert venue for chamber music groups and choirs. If you would like to book the church for a musical event, please email [email protected]

The music director and organist is Nicholas Houghton FRCO.

The Organ

Built by the renowned London organ maker Alfred Hunter, the organ was restored in 1979 by F H Browne & Son (Canterbury).

Organ restoration 2020

Work to restore the organ was completed in January 2021. The work was done by Andrew Cooper and Co, Pipe Organ Builders
